Planning a family trip to the Netherlands and looking for a clear one-week plan? This is the week families ask us for most: places that work for children and adults, short drives, and one driver from the first day to the last.
Day 1 — Arrive at Schiphol
Your driver meets you at the airport and takes you to your Amsterdam hotel. After a long flight, a quiet evening by the canals is plenty.
Day 2 — Windmills and fishing villages
Zaanse Schans and its wooden windmills are fifteen minutes from Amsterdam. Then Volendam’s old harbour, and photos in traditional Dutch costume.
Day 3 — Giethoorn, the village without roads
Thatched farmhouses, wooden bridges, and you get around by boat. A calm day and the photos of the week.
Day 4 — Efteling or Beekse Bergen
A full day for the children: Efteling, the biggest theme park in the country, or Beekse Bergen safari park next door. Pick one.
Day 5 — Madurodam and Scheveningen beach
Madurodam is the whole country in miniature in The Hague, and Scheveningen beach is minutes away.
Day 6 — Shopping at the Roermond outlet
Designer brands at outlet prices, in one street in the south of the country.
Day 7 — A free day, then home
A last morning in Amsterdam, then your driver takes you to Schiphol.
Tips for families

- The package is cheaper: this exact week is available as a 7-day package at 15% less than booking each day separately.

Frequently asked questions
Is a week enough for the Netherlands?
Yes. The country is small and the roads are fast — most places are one or two hours from Amsterdam. A week covers the highlights with a day to spare.
Where should we stay?
One hotel in Amsterdam for the whole week is easiest: a different trip each day, back every evening, and no packing in between.
What is the best time of year?
Spring for the tulip fields and Keukenhof, summer for warmer weather and long days. The same week works all year with a day or two swapped.
