What we collect when you ask for a price, why we need it, and who else sees it.
We ask for as little as possible. This page explains what happens to the details you type into the booking form and the optional website statistics you can allow.
Who is responsible for your data
Ride Holland, a private car and minivan service in Amsterdam, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce.
- Chamber of Commerce (KvK): 81594992
- Address: G.J. Scheurleerweg 130, 1022 KL Amsterdam
- For anything about your data: info@rideholland.com
- Phone: +31 20 215 7585
- WhatsApp: use the WhatsApp button on any page
Write to that address with any question about your data and a real person will answer it.
Under the GDPR we are the controller of this data, which means we decide what is collected and why, and we are the ones you hold responsible for it.
What we collect, and why
When you ask for a price or a booking
The booking form asks for your name, email address, telephone number, the number of passengers, the tour or route, your preferred date and time, your pick-up address and anything you write in the message box.
We need these to give you a price and to turn up in the right place at the right time. The pick-up address and the passenger count are not optional curiosity — they determine the price and the vehicle. Nothing on that form is collected for marketing.
The form also contains a hidden field a human never sees. It exists to catch automated spam, and if a real person somehow fills it in, the submission is discarded rather than stored.
When you leave a review
The review form asks for your name, the country you are from, the tour you took, a star rating and the review text. If we publish it, your first name, country and rating appear on the site. Reviews are moderated before publication and we never publish one a guest did not write.
When you use the WhatsApp button
The WhatsApp button does not send anything to us directly. It opens WhatsApp on your own device with the booking details already typed into a message, which you then choose to send or not. If you send it, the message goes through WhatsApp (Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd) under their terms and privacy policy, not ours, and it arrives on the business phone as an ordinary WhatsApp message.
If you would rather Meta were not involved, use the normal form button or send an email instead. Both reach us equally well.
Optional website statistics
With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people visit and which websites bring visitors to Ride Holland. Google receives page views, cookie identifiers and technical information such as browser and device information. The Analytics tag loads only after you select Accept analytics. Rejecting analytics does not affect prices, enquiries or bookings.
We do not send booking form contents, names, phone numbers, email addresses, pick-up addresses, URL query strings or URL fragments to Analytics. Automatic form and outbound-link measurement are disabled. Google Signals and advertising personalisation are disabled. Staff dashboard pages do not load Analytics.
You can change or withdraw your choice using Cookie settings at the bottom of any public page. Withdrawal stops future collection in that browser and removes the Analytics cookies set by this integration.
What we do not do
- No advertising or remarketing tags.
- No third-party fonts or maps. The maps on the tour pages are hand-drawn images served from this site.
- We never sell, rent or share your details with anyone for their own marketing.
- No profiling and no automated decision-making.
Cookies
The preferred-lang entry in your browser remembers your chosen language.
The ride-analytics-consent-v1 entry remembers your analytics choice for 180
days, after which we ask again. These preferences stay in your browser.
Only after consent, Google Analytics uses _ga and _ga_* cookies to distinguish
visits and sessions. We configure these cookies to expire after 180 days without
extending their lifetime on each visit. You can remove them through Cookie
settings or your browser settings. The private operator dashboard uses a
separate essential sign-in cookie; public visitors do not need to sign in.
Who else handles your data
The services below handle data for the purposes described here.
Netlify hosts the website and receives everything you submit through the forms. This is where your booking request is actually stored, and it is our system of record. Netlify is a United States company, so your booking details are stored on systems operated by a company outside the European Union.
Email replies from us arrive from an ordinary mailbox, so your message is also stored with that email provider in the normal way.
Google processes the optional Analytics data. Processing may involve systems outside the European Economic Area. See Google’s privacy policy and how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
How long we keep it
There are two clocks, and they are different lengths for a reason.
An enquiry that never became a booking is deleted after 12 months. If you asked us for a price and never travelled, that is how long we keep the message — long enough to answer you if you come back the following season, and no longer.
A booking you actually travelled on is kept for 7 years. That is not our choice. Dutch tax law requires a business to keep its invoices and the records behind them for seven years, and a completed trip has an invoice attached to it.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us to:
- show you what we hold about you
- correct it if it is wrong
- delete it
- stop using it, or restrict how we use it
- hand it to you in a portable format
- object to a particular use
Write to us and we will deal with it. There is no charge, and we will reply within one month. In practice this is a very small business and the answer to “what do you have about me” is usually one booking form.
Legal basis
For a booking, we process your data because it is necessary to perform the contract you are asking us to enter into, or to take steps at your request before it. For a published review, the basis is your consent, which you can withdraw by asking us to take it down. Where we keep invoice records for seven years, the basis is our legal obligation under Dutch tax law.
For optional Google Analytics collection and its cookies, the basis is your consent, which you can withdraw using Cookie settings.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, tell us first and we will try to fix it. You also have the right to complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).
Changes
If this policy changes we will update this page and change the date below.
