Arriving at Schiphol — What Happens After You Land
A step-by-step guide to being met at Amsterdam Schiphol: where your driver waits, when you get their details, what if your flight is late, and meeting at customs.
Published October 23, 2026
After a long flight with children and suitcases, nobody wants a taxi queue or a train with two changes. This is exactly what happens when your driver meets you at Schiphol.
Before you land
We track your flight, so a delay or an early landing changes the pick-up automatically. The first hour of waiting is free.
About fifteen minutes after landing
We send you your driver’s name and the number plate, so you know who you are looking for.
Finding your driver
- Collect your bags and come out of Arrivals.
- Follow the signs for Departures and go up one level — a two-minute walk.
- Your driver waits at the kerb at level 2, lane 2, usually within 5 to 15 minutes.
Meeting at customs
With small children, older parents or lots of luggage, your driver can wait inside the arrivals hall where you come out of customs, with your name on a sign, and carry the bags to the car. It is a small extra — see the table below.
A fixed price to your hotel
Schiphol to anywhere in Amsterdam at one fixed price per car, whatever the traffic or the landing time. You pay the driver after the ride, in cash or by card.
